Gary Neville hits out at 'lazy' Gianluca Scamacca incident in West Ham United v Manchester United

Gary Neville brandished Gianluca Scamacca’s first-half yellow card as “lazy” after the striker’s tackle on Marcus Rashford in West Ham United’s defeat at Old Trafford. The Italian tripped up the England international in the 37th minute and was later substituted in the second half after nearly picking up a second yellow card. Neville felt the 23-year-old didn’t want to defend the situation which resulted in United being awarded a free kick in a dangerous area. Neville said on  Sky Sports commentary  (16:51, 30 October): “He didn’t want to defend, he didn’t want to get low and jockey it. He just wanted to try and pinch it. It’s just lazy from the striker.” Needs Paqueta back Scamacca has shown enough in a West Ham shirt to suggest he will be a threat in the future, but he hasn’t been the same player without Lucas Paqueta behind him. Scamacca is not your traditional hold-up striker, he has the ability to play neat flicks and one-touch play, which Paqueta thrives off. When the Brazilian
Manchester United are just a point outside of the top four after Marcus Rashford's 100th goal for the club beat a battling West Ham. Rashford, who had an earlier header saved by Lukasz Fabianski, rose to brilliantly power home Christian Eriksen's superb cross seven minutes before half-time for the game's only goal. West Ham were threatening throughout the game though, and after Said Benrahma came close in the first half, David de Gea superbly saved from Kurt Zouma's header in the second. Substitute Fred later hit a post for United but, thanks to more fine De Gea saves, the hosts held on to move a point behind Newcastle in the table. Here are the game's talking points. We may still not have seen Marcus Rashford's full array of gifts He's quick, he's better cutting in from wide areas and he is a very, very kind man. We know all this about Marcus Rashford. But given how United have been coached in the past few years, there may still be more to know. From

Fernando Alonso   has had his seventh-place finish at last weekend’s US Grand Prix reinstated after Alpine successfully overturned his penalty. The two-time Formula 1 World Championship was demoted out of the points following the conclusion of the race after picking up a 30-second penalty. That dropped him from seventh to 15th out in Austin with stewards upholding a protest from the Haas team despite it being sent in after the permitted time limit. Haas had submitted their protest 54 minutes after the normal 30-minute deadline as they objected to Alonso and Red Bull’s Sergio Perez, who finished fourth, being allowed to continue racing after damage sustained in collisions. Stewards had rejected the protest against Red Bull but upheld the one against Alonso, resulting in his penalty. Alonso had been involved in a heavy crash with his future Aston Martin team-mate Lance Stroll, which saw his car rear up on its back wheels and hit the barrier. While he returned to the pits for a new front

NFF unfair to Nigeria’s first ‘Centurion’ Mmadu

Former   Super Falcons stars Stella Mbachu and Chioma Ajunwa have expressed their displeasure over the continued exclusion of their fellow ex-international Maureen Mmadu from the honours list by the relevant authorities in the country. On September 11, 2007, Mmadu became the first Nigerian, male or female, to hit the 100-game milestone for the country, when she featured for the Falcons against Sweden at the Women’s World Cup in China. The match ended 1-1. In the process, Mmadu also became the first African woman to play 100 international games. But since then, the feat hasn’t received the deserved recognition, while three Super Eagles players Vincent Enyeama, Joseph Yobo and Ahmed Musa, who also hit the century of caps years later, were honoured. Last year, the Nigeria Football Federation gifted Musa N10m after the Super Eagles captain played his 100th Nigeria game in the Eagles’ 2-1 win over Cape Verde during the 2022 World Cup qualifiers. “The NFF will give Ahmed Musa N10m for reac
